How can we measure what a happy and successful life looks like? There are many ways, but essentially, I feel it is by what we accept or what we reject in our lives. What we attract and what we resist, in other words, what we want and what we don't want in our lives. So how is it then, that the simplicity of this statement is so often lost? Ask yourself, 'What do you want from life?' followed by 'What don't you want?' This should then become the basis for the way in which we make our choices in the future - by a process of simple elimination. Life is a vault, or safe of precious experiences, moments in time, situations, events, opportunities, circumstances (good or bad) all kept safely stored and secured behind a combination lock. There can only ever be one keeper of the combination itself, and that is YOU.
I have laboured for a very long time, nigh on 40 years, to work out and find the personal 'combination' to my own safe. It's just like being a safe-cracker listening, turning and clicking the cogs into place until - BINGO! It all lines up and the door is released to reveal all the treasures and memories that lie waiting beyond it.
Throughout this time of searching for the right combination I have so many personal experiences that have shaped my journey including two immediate family member suicides, two of my own divorces, two beautiful children, the ups and often stressed-out downs of being a single parent for almost 20 years, a fantastically varied working career and training opportunities since the age of 17 in retail, civil service, administration, accounts and presentation, computing and primary teaching for 16 years. Mental health challenges such as depression, SADS, temporary psychosis due to emotional pain and hereditary conditions.
When I was 48 and still teaching, my first grandchild was born, and so began a catalyst for change in my life with an invisible force that I never realised existed. If you are not particularly 'happy' with how things turned out for you, or the circumstances in which your life has ended up just floating and bobbing about on the tide of life that has felt like it's just swept you away, then these pages will be of interest to you in lots of different ways. A life event can be our much needed prompt for making improvements, even when we didn't realise we needed any! We are our own catalysts for change, no one else can be that responsible for us.
'Me, Myself and I' are all that is needed to initiate pretty much anything I want! To now know and understand that after 4 years of intense searching for my combination, I have found it and am ready to excitedly move forward and share it. It is so awesome and special, I would love for everyone who wants to have it by asking the right questions of themselves to achieve it also!
Within these pages are many different ways of starting that journey for yourself. They are a collection of a variety of different areas of life which can often be 'holding' methods to 'unlocking' our combination to success that we are not aware of. The information is a collection from a variety of sources including reference and personal experience.
